Dr. Amanda Strawhacker and Dr. Amanda Sullivan are child development specialists, researchers, educators, and moms who provide expert guidance on educational technology and science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) education for young children.
Affectionately known as “the Amandas” by the children they work with, they bring over a decade of experience in designing and implementing curricula for subjects ranging from robotics and coding to bioengineering in early childhood and elementary settings.
Both hold Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Child Study & Human Development from Tufts University, where they worked with the Developmental Technologies Research Group (now located at Boston College). Together, they focus their collective work on the vital intersection of child development and emerging technologies.
Their mission is to equip parents, caregivers, and educators with evidence-based resources to effectively navigate and utilize technology to foster children’s innate curiosity, and promote foundational STEAM learning. Their joint work has resulted in numerous publications, including the book Playful STEAM Learning in the Early Years: An Educator’s Guide to Screen-Free Explorations, published by Teachers College Press in 2025.
